A Few of Our Favorite Things: Field Trip's 2025 Holiday Gift Guide (And a Giveaway!)
Because giving a gift that gets someone outside (or at least off their phone) just hits different.
Sponsored by brands we genuinely love and trust.
We test gear and goods all year long — and every season, a few things rise to the top. Things that actually get used. Stuff that makes us say, “Dang, this is good.” Whether it's an espresso tool that saves counter space, a tee that magically doesn’t stink after a campfire session, or a portable stove that shows up when your power goes out — these are a few of Field Trip’s favorite things.
From cozy gear to compost magic, here are the tried-and-true gifts we actually use — and a few of them we love so much, we partnered up for special discounts or giveaways (scroll to find those).

Jetboil — Genesis Basecamp System
If you’re camping, road tripping, or just want a power-outage backup that works, the Genesis Basecamp is the real deal. We use it everywhere — muddy camp sites, for backyard breakfasts, and for emergency mac-and-cheese when the lights go out. Two burners, a nesting pot and pan, fast boil times — and it all packs down small. Like, fits-in-your-backpack, small. Easy to stash, quick to set up, and reliable.
This is the kind of gear that turns “ugh, I have to cook outside” into “oh yeah, I get to cook outside.”
A favorite of our Founder, Kayt: “I had often heard fellow campers rave about the Jetboil brand but didn’t understand the hype until trying Jetboil out for myself. It’s hands-down one of my most-used items—not just for camping but for life.”
Price Range: Splurge — but worth it. Built to last, and wildly versatile.
GIVEAWAY ALERT: We’re giving away a Jetboil Genesis Basecamp System!

The Mill Food Recycler
This kitchen recycler changed our food waste habits. Instead of tossing scraps, The Mill dries and grinds them into odorless "grounds" you can use in your garden, ship back to be turned into chicken feed, or keep out of the landfill entirely. It handles almost everything — small bones, dairy, cooked food, you name it — and keeps your trash can from smelling like rot.
With quick setup, minimal maintenance, and the ease of a truly well-built app, The Mill has dramatically reduced our trips to the dump. (Not to mention reducing our guilt!)
A favorite of our Founder, Kayt: “We love ours so much, we named her Mabel! The price tag can widen the eyes, but given the constant everyday use, the amazing soil additive we get from it, and the reduction in the cost on the planet, it is well worth it.”
Give this to: eco-conscious families, kitchen nerds, or anyone whose compost bin attracts more flies than soil.
Price Range: Splurge — but ideal for sustainable households who want to walk the walk. And, Field Trippers get $200 off!

ROK Coffee Smartshot Espresso Tool
For the espresso lover who doesn’t want to spend over $800 on a countertop machine (or plug one in). The ROK Smartshot uses manual pressure to pull a legit shot — creamy, full-bodied espresso without electricity. You can pack it for the road, sure — but we keep it on our counter because it looks that good.
Made from durable metal, no pods, and no plastic waste. Just really, really good espresso.
Price Range: Mid-range — a great value for serious coffee people.

PAKA Apparel
Alpaca fiber changed our layering game. PAKA’s Everyday Bra and Underwear Set is breathable, moisture-wicking, and odor-resistant. You’ll live in the Everyday Jogger + Breathe Full-Zip Hoodie set. You’ll wonder how you can possibly love a pair of socks so much. You’ll pray that PAKA will create pajamas soon because the apparel is so comfy you want to sleep in it.
Alpaca is naturally sustainable — it requires less water and land than sheep, doesn’t trap odors like synthetics, and adjusts to your body temp. Plus, PAKA creates fair-wage jobs for women artisans in Peru who hand-knit pieces with care and culture in mind. They even share impact stats on the tag.
A favorite of our Founder, Kayt: “The Women’s Hoodie is hands-down one of the most flattering, softest hoodies I’ve ever worn. I am in awe at how it keeps me warm when needed, yet I can wear it on a 75-degree day hike and not break a sweat. Can I please get one in every color?"
Price Range: Mid to splurge — but so worth it. You’ll wear these for years. (And want to wear them daily.)

Vivobarefoot
For the minimalist walker, hiker, or grounded soul. The Sensus Chelsea is part leather, part barefoot freedom, with a sleek profile and flexible sole. All Vivobarefoot shoes are built to reconnect you with the ground, made with recycled or bio-based materials, and are repairable and recyclable through their Revivo program.
Give these to someone who walks a lot, hates stiff shoes, or nerds out on natural movement.
Price Range: Mid to splurge — you’re investing in foot health and planetary care.

SOLE Footbeds & Shoes
Our founder laughed when someone said cork footbeds would change their life. And then tried them. And now won’t shut up about them. SOLE makes orthopedic-quality recycled cork insoles that support alignment, reduce pain, and feel amazing in boots or everyday shoes.
Even better? Their ReCORK program collects used wine corks (yep — pop a bottle, save the cork) to create new footbeds. It’s a carbon-negative system that turns party trash into foot support.
A favorite of our Founder, Kayt: “The Jasper Chukka shoes are lightweight, casual, with a cork-footbed built-in. They haven’t left my feet in days. I love them.”
Price Range: Budget to mid — big impact, small package.

BatBnB
Everyone needs a bat house. Seriously. Bats eat thousands of bugs a night (including mosquitos) and help pollinate plants. BatBnB makes beautifully designed bat homes that actually work — tested and approved by conservationists. Easy to mount, built to last, and perfect for gardeners or wildlife fans.
A favorite of our Founder, Kayt: “I have been a BatBnB fan for quite some time. It’s a small company creating beautiful works of art that help misunderstood creatures thrive and reduce pests so people can enjoy the outdoors. What’s not to love?”

The Landmark Project
If you want to give a gift that supports the outdoors and looks good doing it — The Landmark Project is the place to shop. Every purchase supports public lands through donations to organizations like the National Parks Conservation Association. Their ultra-comfy tees feature vintage-style designs of U.S. parks and wild places, and they offer beautifully designed posters, calendars, enamel pins, hats, and decals.
They also use water-based inks, recycled packaging, and partner with ethical manufacturers. This is a brand for the wildlife-lover who wants their values on their sleeve — literally.
Price Range: Budget to mid — easy gifting that gives back.

Bee Cups & Murder Trinkets for Crows
Bee Cups, LLC gets pollinators. Their ceramic Bee Cups hold water for thirsty bees — a small but meaningful help for declining pollinator populations. And their "Murder Mix crow trinkets?” A cheeky nod to crows who love shiny things. Perfect for quirky gardeners or anyone who thinks bees and birds deserve nice things.
Price Range: Budget-friendly with charm.

Wandering Palette
Julie, the artist behind Wandering Palette, brings the outdoors in through hand-painted watercolor pieces and fiber arts. Her work is deeply inspired by nature and perfect for anyone who loves mountains, wildflowers, and meaningful art. Custom options available.
A favorite of our Founder, Kayt: “Wandering Palette’s artist, Julie, is a good friend of mine. But that’s not why we are featuring her here. Her art captures everything I love about the outdoors. I have several of her pieces throughout my home, and they always bring the outdoors in for me. It’s a feeling that can’t be beat.”
Price Range: Budget to mid — personal and handcrafted.

BECAUSEIROCK
Ethically sourced stones. Gorgeous, handmade jewelry. UnEarthed kits that feel like treasure hunts. This women-owned company does sparkle without the shady sourcing — and the designs are ones people stop you in the grocery store to ask about.
A favorite of our Founder, Kayt: “If you are looking for a wow-factor gift that doesn’t scream that it came from a box jewelry store, BECAUSE I ROCK has you covered with pieces that are priced right and won’t harm the planet. Their cigar band rings are absolute show-stoppers.”
Price Range: Mid — unique pieces with a story.

NOCS Zero Tube
This small monocular lives in our backpack — great for checking out far-off wildlife, reading signs from a distance, or zooming in on birds. Water-resistant, rugged, and compact enough for even the smallest pack.
NOCS walks the walk on sustainability — their products are made with recycled plastics, ship in plastic-free packaging, and the brand donates a portion of profits to environmental education through their “1% for the Planet” partnership.
Price Range: Mid — small tool, big views.

Timberland Earthkeepers Sunglasses
It’s surprisingly hard to find sunglasses that are both stylish and sustainable. Timberland’s Earthkeepers line includes frames made with bio-based materials and lenses crafted for optical clarity and UV protection. They ship in recycled packaging and are designed with long-lasting wear in mind — perfect for hiking, road tripping, or just driving into the sun like a boss.

Smart Plugs
Pick a brand, any brand—there are plenty out there. They don’t sound sexy, but they save power, money, and stress. Set timers for lights or space heaters, power things down remotely, or create a smarter, more energy-efficient setup. Great for techy minimalists or anyone trying to shrink their electric bill.
Price Range: Budget — smart in more ways than one.

Adventurist Backpack Duffel
The Adventurist Backpack Duffel is our new favorite go-everywhere bag. It’s water-resistant, big enough for a long weekend trip, and made by a company that donates meals for every bag sold. Great for travel, camping, or tossing in the car for spontaneous adventures.
Price Range: Budget to mid — high value, do-good design.

Generation Wild Printable Gift Certificates
Free, printable “experience” gift certificates that you can give instead of more stuff. Stargazing, fort building, sledding — the kind of memories that matter. We love anything that encourages people to get outside.
